Important Information about your Mail-In Ballot

  • According to the Elections Division, Douglas County has 165,000 registered voters. 50,000 of these voters are inactive and did not vote in the last two years.
  • The County's new mail-in ballot form (called the "Combination Voter Registration & Mail-In Ballot Application") has several purposes: voter registration, permanent mail-in ballot registration, and/or one-time mail-in ballot registration. It is available here.
  • The deadline to request a permanent mail-in ballot for the 2008 election is June 15.
  • To remain on the County's list of active voters, you must vote at least every other year (2008, 2010, 2012...), OR fill out the new mail-in ballot form.
  • Even if you have signed up for mail-in/absentee ballots in the past, you need to fill out the form to receive forthcoming mail-in ballots.
  • Voters can choose to receive mail-in ballots for every election. The County calls this option the "Permanent Mail-In Ballot." Please don't let the word "Permanent" fool you. If a voter wants to start voting at a polling place again, they can change their status at any time.
